About the project
For the energy transition from fossil to renewable energy, Europe depends on imports of dozens of so-called ‘critical materials’. How can Europe reduce or prevent new unwanted geopolitical dependencies? This is what Delft Matters is discussing with MEP Dr Mohammed Chahim (Social Democrats) and industrial ecologist Dr Benjamin Sprecher (Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering).

Delft matters. And Rotterdam matters. In this edition enjoy an interview with mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and professor of environmental technology and design Arjan van Timmeren about the resilience of the city. This shows once again how we should do it together. Together with the citizens, says the mayor, because politicians cannot do it alone.
A healthy person has a thousand wishes, a sick person only one, so they say. In these times of crises, the importance of that wish for health is easily overlooked. Of course, anyone who’s sick also has other wishes, such as being able to return home from hospital as soon as possible. To help with that, we joined forces with LUMC (Leiden) in developing The Box, packed full of home monitoring devices that can prevent patients having to come for unnecessary tests.
