About the project
Delft matters. And Rotterdam matters. In this edition enjoy an interview with mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and professor of environmental technology and design Arjan van Timmeren about the resilience of the city. This shows once again how we should do it together. Together with the citizens, says the mayor, because politicians cannot do it alone. Together with humanities, science and social scientists, because this is the only way we can bring about major systemic changes. Together with entrepreneurs, because employment is the driving force of the economy and green jobs must return for fossil jobs.

A healthy person has a thousand wishes, a sick person only one, the saying goes. In these times of crises we would almost forget how important this wish for health is. Anyone who is ill naturally has more wishes, such as being able to return home from the hospital as quickly as possible. Together with the LUMC, we developed The Box, a box with home measuring equipment so that patients do not have to come for check-ups unnecessarily.
One thing is certain: all our future engineers will have to deal with AI during their careers, so we must prepare them for this now. With the arrival of our own DelftBlue supercomputer, we have all the options available for this. A reason for great pride, that supercomputer, although you can't see it that way from the outside.
Delft Matters. A title that needs little explanation. Delft matters matter. That is also our mission: not only to be good at what we do, but what we do must be good for society. This is how we create impact. Not alone – together. These are keywords in accomplishing that mission. After all, only if we work together can we meet the major challenges of our time.
